AYOS - Jersey Girl

For a few years now I have loved seeing the Schnibbles parades and have always wanted to join in, but I just wasn't quick enough to complete my top in time!  Well this year I am trying again :)

Here is January's selection, Jersey Girl.  You can see the original quilt and buy the pattern here.

So yes the original was supposed to be 36" square.  I made mine just a tad bigger, it is 89" square :)  I used Midwinter Reds like the original (because I loved it so much!!) but used 3 layer cakes to get the reds and creams.  I will use the beiges in another project.

You can see the other Jersey Girls HERE and HERE.

January NewFO

This year in my endeavour to blog more I am going to really really try to blog about NewFO each month :)  For those who don't know, NewFO is run by Barbara at Cat Patches and is a great incentive to start new projects :)

A list of this months participants is here...

OK so this month I started my strawberry quilt...

This is actually now finished, quilted and binding done, but I will post completed pictures another day :)

Next I started a quilt based on a Schnibbles pattern Jersey Girl.  Now Jersey Girl was supposed to be 36" square, but I wanted something bigger to fit on a queen size bed, so used layer cakes instead of charm packs :)

Here it is in progress...

And here is the finished quilt top.  Each block is 25" finished size and a 5" border, making it 89" square :)

Don't forget to check out what everyone else has been up to this month!

A diamond finish.

Another finish from last year, this is from the Moda Bakeshop website and is called Sunnyside Diamond Zig-Zag quilt and was designed by Janice Ryan of Better Off Thread.  I used the same jelly roll as Janice did, Sunnyside by Kate Spain.

I just noticed that her picture and my picture are both taken on fences with greenery in the background - purely coincidental, the fence is the only tall spot I have that I can peg it up for a photo :)

A closeup of the quilting, I used a pantograph called Forget Me Knot designed by Janet-Lee Santeusanio.

The backing is a sweetwater print, I think it is from their Sunkissed line.  The binding is Basic Grey grunge.

And here is Bazzill the quilt inspector at work.

The kids are back at school today, and Buggy is missing her boy slave!

Amazing just how difficult it is to pin long lengths of sashing on when there is a cat sitting on it!

Sailing catchup

Catching up a bit here :)

This is a quilt I made last year as a display sample for Millhouse Collections, the Australian distributor for Riley Blake.

And here it is in their booth at Australia Quilt Market in Melbourne!

The pattern is available as a free download on the Riley Blake website.

I'm a bad bad blogger!

But if you are following this blog then you already know that anyway :)

My goal for this blog for this year - more posts with more pictures and less writing.  Because I never have any idea what to write, but always have lots of pictures :)

So what am I up to this week?

Pattern bought, fabric chosen, and 525 seams sewn (not including those I unpicked and restitched!) in 3 days - a new record for me! Now for sashing, borders, and then I can load it onto Gertie to quilt it - yay!!

FNSI OCtober Edition

Well it's been a while (again!) since I updated my blog, nothing like a good FNSI to get the productivity happening :)

I like to start something new during a FNSI, and not only something new but something that is just for me!  So this month I made an Abbey Bag!  I have had this pattern for a while now, and now that I have made one I will definitely be making some more!  I made it using scraps of an older Moda range called Chocolat.  I stuffed my pincushion with toy stuffing instead of sand so had to modify the pattern to make it work.

Please excuse the awful photo, it is night time here and we have down-lights throughout the house and they are the absolute pits when it comes to taking photos!  I will take one in daylight but wanted to get this post up tonight or it might never get done :)

Photo replaced :)

Hope all the other FNSI-ers had a productive night!
